I have just received my first book review for “Encyclopedia of Demons in World Religions and Cultures” (2012, 978-0786463602) it came from Tom Gilson, the Associate Editor at “Against the Grain“. He is the Head of Reference Emeritus, College of Charleston, Charleston SC. It appears in “Against the Grain” February 2012, Volume 24, Number 1, page 38.
Mr. Gilson gave me an excellent review. He pointed out many the benefits of my book (including the bibliography and index), how it was organized, and especially how well researched it was. He also mentions that my book unlike others of its kind include demons from beyond Christianity and Judaism, and incorporates demons from Ashurian to Zoroastrianism. Admittedly, he felt that the succinctness of the entries should have warranted to the book to be entitled “Dictionary of Demons in World Religions and Cultures” but also that he felt that this was a minor quibble.
Overall, I am very pleased with the review; additionally I am also honored that Mr. Gilson chose my book to review. I look forward to posting other book reviews here in the near future.
